SC-75 Salt Chlorinator OVERVIEW
The SC-75 Salt Chlorinator uses a process known as electrolysis to produce chlorine gas which immediately dissolves into a
soluon to create Hypochlorite and Hypochlorous acid pool and spa water sanizer from a low concentraon of salt added
to the pool water. Hypochlorite and Hypochlorous kill bacteria, oxidizes organic material, and kills algae, then reverts back to
salt. The SC-75 then reuses the salt and the process starts over again. The SC-75 system is comprised of Cell and Power Center.
The SC-75 Salt Chlorinator is designed only to produce chlorine. The unit does not monitor or control chlorine
levels in the pool or spa water. It is the pool owners responsibility for monitoring and maintaining free
chlorine levels at the APSP recommended range of 2.0 to 4.0 parts per million (ppm). It is the pool owners responsibility
to check, on a regular basis, the free chlorine level while the pool pump is running, and adjust the SC-75 accordingly.
Salt is an inherently corrosive material. While the levels of salt required for proper operaon of the SC-
75 Salt Chlorinator are relavely low when compared to sea water and other salt soluons, placing any
amount of salt in your pool increases the likelihood of corrosion or other deterioraon of pool equipment and any sur-
faces used in and around your pool. Metal parts (including steel pools) and certain natural and man-made surfaces are
parcularly suscepble to corrosion and deterioraon when used in and around salt water pools. Pentair Aquac Sys-
tems (“Pentair”) does not represent or otherwise guarantee that the proper use of the SC-75 Salt Chlorinator will pre-
vent corrosion or other deterioraon of pool equipment and any surfaces used in and around your pool. Consult your
experienced pool professional, who should be able to advise you on the proper material selecon, installaon tech-
niques for those materials, and the proper use, care and maintenance of those materials for your specic pool type
and locaon in order to minimize the corrosion and deterioraon that is inherent in and around salt water pools.
FOR ALL NEWLY CONSTRUCTED OR RESURFACED PLASTER POOLS: Do not operate the SC-
75 with newly poured or resurfaced pool plaster. Salt is a corrosive element and severe salt
damage can occur to your pool. Wait at least ONE (1) MONTH aer construcon to allow plaster to cure before
adding salt and operang SC-75. Follow the pool surface manufacturers guidelines for your specic pool.
FOR NEW VINYL LINER POOLS, contact the manufacturer for recommended guidelines before adding salt and operang
the SC-75.
SC-75 System Components
An SC-75 Salt Chlorinator system consists of one or more of the following ;
Y1146: Designed for pools up to 75.000liters. the cell will produce the equivalent of 0.45Kg of pure chlorine per
24hours of connuous pool pump run me.
SC-75P : Power Center. Provides power to the SC-75 cell.
SC-75 Salt Chlorinator Control Panel and Cell Descripon
The SC-75 includes a control panel with buons and LED indicators to control the unit and produce chlorine. The SC-75
measures the water temperature and salt level to produce chlorine at the dened output. If the salt level in the pool water
is too low (red on salt display), the cell is turned o unl salt is added to the pool. The controller has a self-cleaning cycle
which reverses the cell polarity, reducing calcium buildup. This feature turns the cell on and o at regular intervals to minimize
calcium and scale buildup and further maximizes cell life.
The SC-75 contains the control electronics and bipolar electrodes that electrically produce chlorine when energized with DC
current. Chlorine is generated as pool water containing salt passes through the cell. The chlorine producon can be varied
by either adjusng the sanizer output level on the control panel and/or by varying the number of hours the unit is on each
day. The SC-75 automacally reverses the cell electrode blades every few hours to help clean the cell. This process does
not interrupt the producon of Chlorine. The SC-75 also contains a mechanical ow sensor to ensure the proper amount
of water is passing through the cell to allow chlorinaon to occur. The SC-75 automacally measures the water salinity and
temperature and displays three (3) salinity ranges on the control panel using LED indicators. The KECG includes a 3m. cable
for connecon to the Power Center.
