5.4.4 Bulk Fuel and DEF Tanks
Where a bulk fuel tank supply is used a remote DEF tank will be required in addition to the on board
machine DEF tank ref 5.4.1
In order to maintain DEF quality and emissions compliance, the DEF level in the tank MUST cycle
from the low DEF warning level to the maximum DEF fill level. Consequently using a trickle feed to
maintain the max fill level is NOT permitted.
The system used to control this refill should be activated using the low level warning broadcast but
must not use the max DEF level broadcast to determine when the system is full as the output does
not update fast enough to prevent overfill, critical to maintain sufficient expansion space. Use of a
pre-determined volume to set the max fill level is recommended.
