Recommended Ac
tions
Diagnostic Codes
Check for any event and active diagnostic codes on
the electronic service tool. Troubleshoot any active
codes or recen
tly logged diagnostic codes before
continuing with this procedure.
Air Intake
1. Check the air lter for blockage or restriction.
2. Check the air intake duct for blockages or
restrictions.
Electrical Connectors
1. Check for c
orrect installation of ECM connectors
at the following locations:
P1/E-C1 E
CM connector
P2/A-C1 ECM connector
A-C2 Fuel rail pump solenoid connector
2. Re fer to
Troubleshooting, “Electrical Connectors
- Inspect”.
3. Inspect
the battery wires from the ECM to the
battery compartment. Refer to the Schematic
Diagram. Inspect the wires and the power relay.
Check t
he power and ground connections to the
ECM. Refer to the schematic diagram for more
information.
4. Select the “Wiggle Test” from the diagnostic tests
on the e lectronic service tool.
5. Choose the appropriate group of parameters to
monitor.
6. Press the Start” button. Wiggle the wiring harness
in order to reproduce intermittent faults.
Note: If an intermittent fault exists, the status will be
highlighted and an audible beep will be heard.
7. Repair any faults and ensure that the symptom
has been cleared. If the fault is still present, refer
to
Fuel Supply”.
Fuel Supply
NOTICE
Do not crank the engine continuously for more than
30 seconds. Allow the starting motor to cool for two
minutes before cranking the engine again.
1. Visually check the fuel tank for fuel. The fuel
gauge may be fau
lty.
2. Ensure that the fuel supply valve (if equipped) is
in the full OPE
N position.
3. If the temperature is below 0 °C (32 °F), check
for solidie
dfuel(wax).
4. Check the primary lter/water separator for water
in the fuel.
5. Check for fuel supply lines that are restricted.
6. Check that the low-pressure fuel lines are tight
and secured properly.
7. Check the fuel lters.
8. Check the d
iesel fuel for contamination.
9. Check for air in the fuel system.
10. Ensure that the fuel system has been primed.
11. Check the
fuel pressure.
Engine Shutdown Switch (If Applicable)
Use the electronic service tool to monitor the status
of the engine shutdown switches. Check for status
indica
tors that are active due to the engine shutdown
switch. Determine the cause for the shutdown and
make any repairs necessary.
