Troubleshooting Section
•
All of the injector trim files are not loaded into the
ECM. Engine per
formance and emissions are
affected.
System Respon
se:
If equipped, the diagnostic light will come on. The
fault is not l
ogged.
The electronic service tool will display a list of the
condition(
s) on the “Active Diagnostics” screen that
must be resolved.
Possible Pe
rformance Effect:
Engine performance and emissions are affected.
Troubleshooting:
Use the ele
ctronic service tool to correct parameters
that have not been programmed or parameters that
have been incorrectly programmed.
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: “Flash
Programming”
Results:
•
OK – STOP

Conditions Which Generate This Code:
The El
ectronic Control Module (ECM) detects the
following conditions:
•
The si
gnal from the secondary speed/timing sensor
is lost and/or intermittent.
•
The s
ignal from the secondary speed/timing sensor
was lost for at least 2 seconds while the signal
from the primary speed/timing sensor remained
vali
d and the engine was running.
•
Diagnostic code 0168-01 is not active.
•
The engine has been running for more than 3
seconds.
•
No 0041 diagnostic codes are active.
Sy
stem Response:
If equipped, the warning lamp will come on and the
di
agnostic code will be logged.
Possible Pe rformance Effect:
If the signal from the secondary speed/timing sensor
is lost and the engine is stopped, the engine will not
restart. The p
erformance will not be affected unless
both speed signals are lost. The loss of the signals
from both speed/timing sensors will cause the ECM
to shut down t
he engine.
Troubleshooting:
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: “Engine
Speed/Timing Sensor Circuit - Test”
Results:
•
OK – STOP.

Conditions Which Gen erate This Code:
The sign
al for the secondary speed/timing sensor is
intermittent or lost.
System R
esponse:
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) will log the
diagno
stic code.
Possible Pe rformance Effect:
There should not be a noticeable change in engine
response unless the signal for the primary sensor
is als
o lost. The loss of both sensors will shut down
the engine.
Troub
leshooting:
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: “Engine
Spee
d/Timing Sensor Circuit - Test”
Results:
•
OK – STOP.
