Troubleshooting Section
The diagnostic lamp may come on.
Possible Performance Effect:
Theenginemay
experience changes in the engine
rpm. The engine may experience intermittent engine
shutdowns or complete engine shutdowns while
the conditio
ns that cause this diagnostic code are
present.
Troublesho
oting:
This diagnostic code detects intermittent voltage in
the battery
circuit for the Electronic Control Module
(ECM) while the engine is running.
Perform th
e following diagnostic procedure: “Ignition
Keyswitch Circuit and Battery Supply Circuit - Test”
Results:
•
OK – STOP.

Conditi
ons Which G enerate This Code:
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects the
follow
ing conditions:
•
The signal voltage from the intake manifold air
temper
ature sensor is greater than 4.95 VDC for
more than 8 seconds.
•
Engin
e coolant temperature is above −10 °C
(15.0 °F).
•
The EC
M has been powered for at least 2 seconds.
•
Diagnostic code 0168-01 is not active.
System Response:
If eq
uipped, the diagnostic light will come on. The
ECM will log the diagnostic code.
The
ECMwillusethedefaultvalueof70°C(158°F)
for the intake manifold air temperature. “Voltage
High” will be displayed next to the status for “Intake
Man
ifold Air Temperature” on the electronic service
tool.
Po
ssible Performance Effe ct:
•
Poor stability
•
Poor cold running
•
W
hite smoke
•
Black smoke
•
Poor acceleration under load
Troubleshoot
ing:
This fault can be caused by an open circuit or a short
to a power sou
rce.
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: “Engine
Temperatur
e Sensor Open or Short Circuit - Test”
Results:
•
OK – STOP.
