Technical terms used
Current tape position: The part of the tapecurrently being
played.
External source : Adevice connected via a socket(for
example, scart socket)which is transmitting audio/video
signals to the videorecorder.
Index marking : A markingwhich is automaticallymade on the
tape at the beginning of everyrecording. This marking
(recording ID) can be searchedfor with the Indexsearch
function.
Scart cable : Alsoknown as a Euro-AV cable. Thisstandard
cable is an easy methodof connecting various audioand
video devices, computerscreens and televisions.Other
signals in additionto audio and video signals canbe
transmitted on it.
TV system : Thereare various systemsfor transmitting
television signals,for example, PAL,SECAM, PAL BG, SECAM
DK, SECAM L/L,NTSC etc. The systemused by your television
depends on which country youare in.
TXT : Also known asTeletext, Fasttext,Videotext, FLOF etc.
OTR : One touch recording.This function enables you toselect
the switch-offtime in intervals of30 minutes.
Modulator : An electroniccomponent in a video recorder
which allows audio and videosignals to be transmittedvia the
aerial cable. Your televisionreceives the signal in the same
way as a signal froma television station.
Modulator frequency :This frequency or channel indicatesthe
frequency or channel on whichthe audio or video signalis
transmitted.
UHF frequency range :Channels 21 to 69.The video recorder
’broadcasts’ on channel 36/frequency591 MHz. This frequency
or channel can be changed. See the section’Reducing picture
disturbance (’optimizingthe modulator’).
OSD (On-screen display): The largest possible display area
for the video recorder- the screen on yourtelevision set.
