19~00231-00, Rev. A, May, 2002 (GARMIN International STC SA01073WI), ref EA DWG# AV8742. The GDL TM
49 system is a remote-mounted satellite data link transceiver which provides data communication between Garmin 400/500 Series
units and the Echo Flight Message service over the ORBCOMM low earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation. The Echo Flight
Message service provides
NEXTRAD and METAR data from the National Weather Service, and a position tracking service by Echo
Flight to subscribing customers. The GDL
49 system consists of the following equipment
GARMIN GDL™ 49 P/N 011-00729-00 Data Link Unit, (RTCDA D0-160D), at
F. S. -2.0 in the nose avionics bay mounted
using BHT
8~005-2 Potted Inserts, and "MS" hardware referencing AERONAUTICAL ACCESSORIES, INC. Report No. AA-
95104, titled Structural Test for Inserts in Honeycomb, dated November 13, 1995.
AV-14 Antenna (Garmin PIN
01~10303-00), at F. S. 43 on cockpit roof, referencing AC 43.13-2A Chap. 3, paragraph 38(a), &
(b) {fig. 3.6}.

GARMIN GDL 49 Weather Data Link System was provided and must be maintained with the aircraft at all times. ALL
EDWARDS
& ASSOCIATES drawings were developed from each piece of equipment's manufacturer's installation
instructions/schematics, and BHT's aircraft wiring schematics, and were provided to the aircraft's owner/operator.
All work was accomplished referencing BELL HELICOPTER ELECTRICAL STANDARD PRACTICES MANUAL, BHT-ELEC-SPM
dated 15, NOV, 1996, and BELL HELICOPTER TEXTRON STANDARD PRACTICES MANUAL, BHT-ALL-SPM dated 11, OCT,
1996, and BELL HELICOPTER TEXTRON MODEL 412 MAINTENANCE MANUAL BHT-412-MM Rev. 4, and in accordance with AC
43.13-1 B Chap. 3, sec. 2, Chap. 4, para. 4-53 through 4-58, Chap. 6, sec. 1, & sec. 3, para. 6-29, & 6-30, Chap. 7, sec. 1 through 7,
Chap. 10, Chap. 11 Sec. 1 para. 11-1, 11-2; Sec. 3 para. 11-30, 11-31, 11-32,
& 11-37; Sec. 4, para. 11-47, through 11-52; Sec. 5,
through 17,
& Chap. 12, Sec. 1, 2 & 3, and AC 43.13-2A Chapters 1, para. 1 through 11, Chap. 2, para. 21 through 27 & Chap. 3,
para. 36 through 43. All EDWARDS & ASSOCIATES drawings were developed from each piece of equipment's manufactures
installation instructions /schematics, and BHT's aircraft wiring schematics, and were provided to the aircraft's owner/operator.
An electrical load analysis has been computed and it has been determined that the electrical load does not exceed 80% of the rated
generator capacity. The aircraft's new weight and balance computed. Revised aircraft's flight manual equipment list. Provided
Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA), as part of this FAA FORM 337, as addressed by Flight Standards Information Bulletin
for Airworthiness FSAW 98-03, using the checklist in FAA Bulletin HBAW 98-18, see below. The ICA contained in this FAA Form
337 is now part of the aircraft's inspection/maintenance requirements. Log book entry made. REF: W/0 C02405EA/1.-END-
INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS
1. INTRODUCTION: The Bell Model 412 is a FAR PART 29 Cat. B certified helicopter. The above listed modification is for the
installation of optional equipment installed 1/A/W this field approved FAA FORM 337.
2. DESCRIPTION: The Garmin GDL

4. SERVICING INFORMATION: N/A
5. MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS: This modification shall be inspected at BHT Scheduled Inspections PART A or PART B as
applicable (ref: BHT-412-MM below), and Annually 1/A/W:
(a) The scope and detail contained in FAR 43 Appendix D, as applicable to the particular line item(s).
(b) BELL HELICOPTER TEXTRON BELL MAINTENANCE MANUAL, BHT-412-MM, Rev.4, (or later revision), Chap. 5 -
INSPECTIONS; (NOTE: aircraft maintenance manuals are available to each aircraft owner from BELL HELICOPTER
TEXTRON).
(c) Manufacturer's publications, as referenced in section 8 of this FAA FORM 337; (NOTE: many manufacturer's publications
are proprietary to the manufacturer and it's approved facilities). Inspections, maintenance and/or repairs are limited to
persons authorized by FAR 43, paragraph 43.3, with the approved current publications, and training.
6. TROUBLE SHOOTING: If a failure or malfunction is noted, the wiring in the aircraft may be checked for proper connections per
installation print, as referenced in section 8 of this FAA FORM 337. If no wiring problems are found, refer to item 5.
