IfyouhavemorethanoneQuantum™Radar
scannerinstalledonyourvesselandwanttouse
thematthesametime,themultifunctiondisplays
towhichthescannersareconnectedmustNOT
benetworkedtogether.ThisappliestoQuantum™
scannersconnectedeitherwiredorwirelessly.
MultipleRadarscannerslocation
requirements
Importantlocationconsiderationswheninstalling
multipleradarscannersonthesamevessel.
Scannersshouldbemountedaboveeachother,
verticallyseparatedbyatleast0.5m(1.6ft).This
appliestoallinstallationlocationsonthevessel.
Multiplescannersshouldbemountedinaway
thatminimizesinterferencebetweenthevertical
beamwidthsofthe2scanners.
Inallcases,youshouldaimtoachieveasmuch
physicalseparationaspossible,tominimizeany
potentialinterference.
5.2Radarscannerprotectionsailing
vessels
Additionalconsiderationsapplywheninstallingthe
Radarscanneronasailingvessel.
WhenmountingtheRadarscannerunitontothe
mast,checkthattheunitisnotfouledbythesails,
especiallywhentacking.
Dependingonthetypeofsailingvesselandthe
designofthesailplan,aRadarscannerguard
shouldbeattachedtothemastifthesailsor
riggingcontacteithertheRadarscannerunitor
themountingbracket.WithoutaproperRadar
guard,seriousdamagecanresulttotheRadar
mountingbracketandtheRadaritself.Inextreme
cases,suchdamagecouldresultintheRadar
scannerunitbeingpulledoffthemast.Therefore,
itisrecommendedthataRadarscannerguard
shouldbemountedadditionallyandseparatelyto
theRadarscannermountingbracket.
TopreventtheriskoftheRadarscannerunitfalling
afterithasbeendamaged,thesecuritylanyard
suppliedwiththemastbracketMUSTbesecured
properlytothemastandtotheRadarscanner
unit,accordingtotheinstructionsprovidedwith
thebracket.Ifasafetylanyardisnotsuppliedwith
themountingbracket,contactyourlocaldealerfor
appropriateparts.DoNOTattachotherequipment
toeithertheRadarscannerunitorthebracket.
Raymarinestronglyrecommendsthatyoucheck
theconditionandsecurityofthebracketmounting
feet,thesecuritylanyard(s),theRadarscanner
guard,andtheRadarscannerunititself,ona
yearlybasis(ormorefrequentlydependingon
environmentalapplications).Anyttingsshouldbe
replacedasappropriate.
