Shadowareasandfalseechoes
MounttheRadarscannerawayfromlargestructures
orequipment,suchasenginestacks,searchlights,
horns,ormasts.Theseobjectsmaycauseshadow
areasandfalseechoes.Forexample,ifyou
mounttheRadarscanneronamast,echoesfrom
othertargetsmaybereectedfromthemast.Wet
sailsmayalsocauseshadowareas,soRadar
performancemaybereducedintherain.Itis
particularlyimportanttoavoidshadowareasnearthe
bow.RaisingorevenloweringtheRadarscanner
mayhelptoreducetheseeffects.
Inshadowareasbeyondtheobstructiontherewillbe
areductionofthebeamintensity.Theremaybea
blindsectorifthebeamintensityisnotsufcientto
obtainanechofromanobject.Thismayoccureven
atcloserange.Forthisreasontheangularwidth
andrelativebearingofanyshadowareamustbe
determinedatinstallation.

echoesonyourmultifunctiondisplay.Forexample,
seacluttercanbeusedasagoodindicatorofblind
