Chapter 3: Adjusting SmartPilot Settings
T his chapter explains all o f the calibration settings you can adjust on the
SmartPi lot. Y ou will have adjusted many of these settings when commissi oning
the system, and they should not require furth er adjustment. Complete the
proc edures described in
Chapter 2
before adjustin g any calibratio n settings.
3.1 Calibration basics
Calibration groups
T he Calibration mo de has 4 main calibration groups:
Display Calibr ation
(DISPL A Y CAL)
T he items in D isplay Calibration affect the individual controller . They are stored in
the con troller and do not affect any other controllers con nected through SeaT al k.
Y ou ca n adjust the Display Calibration settings as often as necessary – for
example , to add or ch ange information d isplayed on data pages .
User Calibration
(USER CAL)
T he items in User Calibr ation vary acc ording to the Vessel Typ e you have selected
in Deal er Calibration.
Y ou will probably need to access User Calibration on a fairly regular basis to adjust
SmartPi lot settings in response to c hanging cond itions. Details on User
Calibra tion can be found in the
SmartPilot Co ntroller Operation Manual.
Seat rial Calibration
(SEA TRIAL CAL)
T he Seatrial Calibration group is specific ally designed for use du ring the initial
seatrial (see
page 24
of
Chapter 2
fo r fu ll d eta il s).
Y ou sh ould not need to access Seatria l Calibration duri ng normal operatio n.
Dealer Calibration
(DEAL ER CAL)
T he Dealer Calibration group includes it ems that have a significan t impact on
operati on and can affect your b oat’s safety.
After yo u have completed the initial installation and seatrial, y ou should not
norm ally need to alter the Dealer Cali bration values . The item s in Dealer
Calibra tion vary according to the Vessel Type you have selected.
