9 RACK & PINION LUBRICATION: OPTIONAL LUBE PINION (PGRP) AND LUBE PINION
SUPPORT (SURP)
9.1 Description of the PGRP & SURP option
The rack and the pinions must be adequately lubricated to
maintain the gear quality and ensure a long lifetime. We
recommend using the lube pinion (PGRP) that meshes
with the rack.
The SURP is a support that holds the lube pinion and
brings the lubricant to the centre of the lube pinion.
The lubricant inlet is a fitting for tube Ø6 x Ø4.
9.2 Recommended Lubricants
We recommend the following lubricants for rack and pinions lubrication:
If you use the old version of the lube pinion (FGRP – felt pinion), we recommend the following lubricants:
For other lubricant please consult us. The lowest recommended viscosity is 220 Cst. Lubricants with
lower viscosity may be absorbed by capillary action into the felt pinion; this could empty the reservoir and
create an irregular lubrication cycle.
9.3 Oil flow rates
Determine and set the minimum oil flow rate to feed the lubrication gear using following graph (valid for
DLS Schmiersysteme F01, F02 lubricants):
