DIESEL INJECTION

a
a Use a thin, flat-blade screwdriver to push down (11)
on the lower tabs of the clips previously in contact
with the rocker cover, without fully removing the clips
from their injectors.
a Manually remove the diesel injector fuel return rail
unions (12) , while pressing (11) on the lower tabs of
the clips using a thin, flat-blade screwdriver.
a Fit appropriate blanking plugs on each union of the
diesel injector fuel return rail.
a Connect the four transparent hoses of the tool (Mot.
1771) on the diesel injectors in place of each union
of the diesel injector fuel return rail.
a Insert these hoses in the four graduated measuring
cylinders (13) of the tool (Mot. 1711).
a Connect:
- the camshaft position sensor connector,
- the connector to the damper flap.
a Fit the intercooler air outlet pipe.
a Connect the intercooler air outlet pipe on the damper
valve.
a Torque tighten the intercooler air outlet pipe clip
on the damper valve (5.5 N.m).
a Refit the turbocharger air outlet pipe (see 12B, Tur-
bocharging, Intercooler air inlet pipe: Removal -
Refitting, page 12B-41) .
II - CHECKING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Connect a self-contained starter.
a Force the vehicle's + after ignition feed.
a Connect the diagnostic tool.
a Run commands:
- RZ009 "Program vehicle functions",
- VP036 Inhibit fuel supply.
a Run the starter for 15 seconds.
a Check that the diesel injector return volume is grea-
ter than or equal to 20 ml.
a Repeat the starting phase twice, allowing an interval
of 30 seconds between each starting phase.
a Run command VP037 Stop fuel supply inhibition.

Note:
With sufficient force applied to the clip while
pressing continuously with the screwdriver, the
diesel injector fuel return rail unions will come out
effortlessly.
WARNING
Do not use the screwdriver as a lever on the
injector fuel return unions.
