Maintaining Your Machine
If the exposure glass or platen plate
are dirty, you will not be able to make
clear copies. Clean them when they
become dirty.

❖ Cleaning the machine
Wipe the machine with a soft, dry
cloth. If this does not remove the
dirt, wipe the machine with a
damp and tightly wrung cloth. If a
damp cloth still does not remove
the dirt, try using a mild detergent.
Wipe the machine with a dry cloth
to remove the moisture, after using
a damp cloth.
Important
❒ Do not use chemical cleaner or or-
ganic solvent, such as thinner or
benzene. If they get into the ma-
chine or melt plastic parts, a failure
might occur.
❒ Do not clean parts other than those
specified in this manual. Such
parts should be cleaned by your
service representative.
Cleaning inside the Original
Cover
If you open the original cover, you
can access the exposure glass and
original feed mechanism.

Open the original cover while
holding it on both sides.
Cleaning the exposure glass
A Wipe the exposure glass with a
soft, dry cloth.
