Saving Energy

-Energy Saver mode
If you do not use the machine for a
certain period after an operation, or
when you press the {
{{
{Energy Saver}
}}
}
key, the display disappears and the
machine goes into Energy Saver
mode. When you press the {
{{
{Energy
Saver}
}}
} key again, the machine returns
to standby. The machine uses less
electricity in Energy Saver mode.

❒ You can change the amount of time
the machine waits before switch-
ing to Energy Saver mode after
copying finishes or the last opera-
tion is performed. See p.42 “Panel
Off Timer”.

-Low power mode
If you do not use the machine for a
certain period, it automatically low-
ers its power consumption. When
you press the {
{{
{Energy Saver}
}}
} key, the
machine returns to standby.

-Auto Off mode
If you do not use the machine for a
certain period, it automatically turns
itself off. This function is called “Auto
Off”. When you press the operation
switch, the machine returns to stand-
by.

❒ The Auto Off Timer function will
not operate in the following cases:
• When a warning message ap-
pears.
• When the service call indicator
is lit.
• When paper is jammed.
• When the cover is open.
• When the “
Add toner
” mes-
sage appears.
• When toner is being replen-
ished.
• When the User Tools screen is
displayed.
• When fixed warm-up is in
progress.
• When the printer, scanner, or
other functions are active.
• When operations are suspend-
ed during printing.
• When the Data In indicator is on
or blinking.
• When the sample print display
appears.
• If copying is interrupted.
• During copying (if only one
original is inserted when using
Image Overlay).
• During copying (if all paper in
the bypass tray has not been
copied).
