Do you have a question about the Robe Painte and is the answer not in the manual?
This document describes the ROBIN® Painte and ROBIN® Painte EP moving head fixtures, designed for professional indoor lighting applications.
The ROBIN® Painte is a versatile moving head fixture equipped with a range of remotely controllable functions to create dynamic lighting effects.
Colour Wheel: Features 9 dichroic filters, including one multicolour filter, allowing for rotation in both directions with variable speed to produce a wide spectrum of graphic effects.
CMY Colour Mixing System: Utilizes graduated cyan, magenta, and yellow colour filters to achieve a continuous range of colours by varying the amount of each filter from 0% to 100%.
Rotating Gobo Wheel: Includes 8 glass gobos that can rotate in both directions, are indexable, and feature a replaceable "SLOT&LOCK" system.
Static Gobo Wheel: Contains 9 metal gobos, offering both fixed and continuous positioning, as well as a gobo-shake function.
Prism: An 8-facet radial prism that rotates in both directions at different speeds.
Frost Filter: A 5° frost filter provides variable frost for fine frosting effects.
Focus/Zoom: Motorized focus allows for beam adjustment from approximately 2 meters to infinity, with a zoom range of 8°-48°.
Dimmer/Shutter Unit: Provides smooth 0-100% dimming via an electronic control unit, which also enables strobe effects with variable speed.
Pan/Tilt: Offers a pan movement range of 540° and a tilt movement range of 270°. It features 16-bit movement resolution, automatic Pan/Tilt position correction, and a built-in electronic motion stabilizer (EMS) to ensure precise head positioning and reduce swinging. The speed of pan/tilt movement is remotely controllable.
Framing System: Consists of four individually positionable framing shutters, with rotation of the complete framing module by +/- 60°. Each framing shutter can be swiveled, allowing for sharp, precise, or soft frames for projected images.
Control Menu: The fixture is equipped with a QVGA Robe touch screen with battery backup, enabling users to set fixture behaviour, obtain operational information, control effects, and program stand-alone modes. The menu can be navigated via control buttons or direct touch.
Wireless DMX Operation: The wireless version includes a Lumen Radio CRMX module and antenna, operating on the 2.4 GHz band for receiving DMX signals. It supports linking and unlinking with DMX transmitters, with signal level displayed in the menu.
Ethernet Connection: The EP version is equipped with 8-pin RJ-45 sockets for Ethernet connection, supporting protocols like Art-Net, gMAI, gMA2, and sACN for transferring large amounts of DMX 512 data over a network. It includes an Ethernet Pass Through Switch that maintains network connectivity even without power.
RDM (Remote Device Management): Supports bi-directional communication for DMX512 control systems, allowing for device configuration and status monitoring.

Installation: The fixture must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with all national and local electrical and construction codes. It is a protection class I device and requires a protective earthing connection. For overhead installation, a safety wire capable of bearing at least 10 times the fixture's weight is mandatory. The fixture can be daisy-chained for power connection, with the maximum number of linked fixtures depending on the input voltage (e.g., 7 fixtures at 230V CE, 3 fixtures at 120V US).
DMX-512 Connection: Uses 5-pin XLR sockets for DMX input and output. A 120 Ω terminator is required at the last fixture in a DMX chain.
Gobo Replacement: Instructions are provided for safely replacing rotating gobos, emphasizing disconnecting from mains and allowing the fixture to cool.
Control Menu Navigation: The touch screen and control buttons allow access to various settings, including DMX address, personality settings (User A/B), Pan/Tilt settings (reverse, feedback, mode, reset), blackout settings, frequency setup, initial effect positions, screen settings (intensity, screen saver, lock, calibration, orientation), temperature unit, and fan settings (auto, high, quiet, quiet-blackout).
LED Module Information: The fixture provides detailed information about the LED module, including serial number, installation date/time, intensity, and LED on-time (total and adaptive). This information can also be obtained via a mobile application (ROBE COM) using NFC.
Software Update: The software can be updated using a PC and a DSU file, requiring either a Flash cable RS232/DMX or a Robe Universal Interface.
Cleaning: Regular cleaning of the fixture, including the front lens, covers, cooling fans, and interior, is essential for maintaining light output and reliable operation. Alcohol or solvents should not be used on the front lens or covers. Air filters in the base should be cleaned periodically, and the elapsed time counter reset.
Fuse Replacement: Instructions are provided for safely replacing the fuse, emphasizing disconnecting from mains before starting.
Plastic Parts Inspection: Plastic parts should be checked every two months for damages or cracks, especially after transportation or manipulation, and any damaged parts must be replaced immediately.
Disposal: The product should be disposed of or recycled according to local regulations and codes to preserve the environment.
