Execute internal adjustments
Risk of damage for device under test!
During adjustment, assemblies without attenuator temporarily provide high power at
the RF plug. This may cause damage to the device under test (DUT). Furthermore,
those instruments require that the RF plug is terminated by 50 ohm during adjustment.
So it is recommended to disconnect the DUT and replace it by a 50 ohm terminating
resistor.
Press the PRESET key on the instrument front panel.
Press the SETUP key, select Internal Adjustments and execute Adjust All.
This procedure updates all internal instrument adjustments and will take
several minutes. Adjustments requiring external measurement equipment are
not affected by the firmware update and need not to be performed.
3.3 Firmware update using R&S firmware update file via
LAN
To perform this procedure, the LAN interface and the Software Update via LAN must
be enabled in LAN Sevices.
Press the SETUP key, select Security, select LAN Services and check, if Enable LAN
Interface is active and Software Update is enabled.
Required equipment
Software: Firmware update file SMA_3.50.057.29.rsu
Hardware: A LAN connection to the R&S® SMA100A.
Install new firmware on R&S
®
SMA100A:
Download update file to a PC.
Switch on instrument.
Wait until instrument is operational.
Connect LAN cable to the instrument.
Press the SETUP key, select Network Settings and notice the hostname or the
ip address.
On a PC open a file manager like Windows Explorer.
Enter in the address line the hostname or IP address of the R&S® SMA100A,
which should be updated.
You will be asked for user and password during connection setup. Please
enter instrument as user and password.
