If Scania LDF-4 is not used, the oil must be of a
viscosity class suitable for the outdoor tempera-
ture in the area where the engine is used.

The temperature range which the market approved oil grades, for example ACEA Exx and
API Cxx, can handle.

The temperature range that the Scania-approved oil grades, for example the Scania LDF
oils and Scania Low Ash, can handle exceeding that which the market approved oil grades
can handle.

The illustration describes which ambient temperature in °C the viscosity class can handle for Scania-approved
and market approved oil grades. Note that the Scania-approved oil grades have a greater temperature range
than market approved oil grades.
