This section is only applicable to engines used in
the USA, and to engines without an exhaust gas
aftertreatment system (SCR system).
This section is not applicable to incorrectly in-
stalled or non-Scania low pressure fuel system
components.

General warranty provisions
The emission control systems of your new Scan-
ia Engines (“Scania”) marine diesel engine were
designed, built and tested using genuine parts,
and were certified to be compliant with federal
emission control regulations. Scania guarantees
to the original owner, and to each subsequent
owner, of a new Scania marine diesel engine
(“you”) that the emission control system of your
engine:
1. Was designed, built and equipped to be com-
pliant with all applicable regulations under
Section 213 of the Clean Air Act, 42 U.S.C.
§ 7547 at the time of sale, and
2. Is free from defects in material and work-
manship which would cause such an engine
to fail to comply with applicable regulations
for its warranty period.
Warranty period
This warranty shall apply for one of the follow-
ing periods, whichever occurs first:
A period of operating hours equal to at least
50 percent of the engine's useful life in oper-
ating hours, or
A period of years equal to at least 50 percent
of the engine's useful life in years;
Although the warranty period shall apply for
a period that is not less than any mechanical
warranties provided by Scania to the owner.
The warranty period shall begin:
On the date the marine vessel is delivered to
the first retail purchaser, or
If the marine vessel is taken into service for
demonstration purposes prior to retail sale, on
the date the engine is first taken into service.
The emission-related warranty is valid for:
500 hours or 5 years for recreational engines,
whichever comes first.
5000 hours or 5 years for commercial en-
gines, whichever comes first.
