2.4.2 ADDRESSING READERS ON A MIXED-NETWORK
The diagram below provides an example of addressing Schlage PIMs & Readers on a mixed-network (AD300 &
AD400).
The AD300 Readers are hard-wired into the same 485 multi-drop network as the AD400 PIMs.
All Readers must be have a unique address (no duplicates) on the same 485 network bus.
An AD300 Reader address cannot be used as an AD400 PIM address.
AD300 Readers must be given a binary address that is outside of the HI-LO Range of any AD400 PIM on
that same network bus. Notice that Readers 5 and 6 are AD300’s and they are not within the two
AD400 PIM ranges of 1-2 and 3-4.
Each AD400 Reader must be given a binary addressed that is within the HI-LO Range of the PIM it is
linked to; and the address must be unique (not duplicated) by an AD300 Reader on the same network.
