6.10.1 Residual current device
WARNING
No protection against electric shock if an incorrect type of residual current device is
used.
Severe or fatal injuries.
• The product can cause direct current in the PE conductor. If a residual current
device (RCD) or a residual current monitoring device (RCM) is used for protec-
tion in the event of a direct or indirect contact, only a type B RCD or RCM is per-
mitted on the supply end of the product.
• If the use of a residual current device is not mandatory according to the standards,
SEW‑EURODRIVE recommends not to use a residual current device.
6.10.2 Line fuse types
Install the fuses at the beginning of the supply line behind the supply bus junction.
Line protection types in utilization categories gL, gG:
• Nominal fusing voltage ≥nominal line voltage
• Depending on the frequency inverter utilization, the nominal fusing current must be
dimensioned for 100% of the frequency inverter nominal current.
Miniature circuit breaker with characteristics B, C:
• Miniature circuit breaker nominal voltage ≥ nominal line voltage
• The nominal current of the miniature circuit breaker must be 10% above the fre-
quency inverter nominal current.
6.10.3 Contactors
Only use contactors in utilization category AC-3 (EN 60947‑4‑1) as line and brake
contactors.
