Listening to the playback sounds from the
connected equipment
1. Use a connection cable to connect the unit to the AUX IN or DIGITAL IN socket.
2. Press the ON/STAND-BY button to turn the power on.
3. Press the AUX button to select “AUX” or “AUX OPT”.
4. Play the connected equipment.
5. If you have selected “AUX”, adjust the input level using the 3 or 2 button.

● The “OVER” indicator should not light at the maximum level.
● You cannot adjust the input level of the equipment connected to the DIGITAL IN
socket.

Recording on a tape
1. Use a connection cable to connect the unit to the AUX IN or DIGITAL IN socket.
2. Press the ON/STAND-BY button to turn the power on.
3. Insert a cassette in the compartment.
4. Press the AUX button to select “AUX” or “AUX OPT”.
5. Press the TAPE REC button.
6. Play the connected equipment.
7. If you have selected “AUX”, adjust the input level using the 3 or 2 button.

You cannot adjust the input level of the equipment connected to the
DIGITAL IN
socket

8. Press the 06 or 1 button to start recording.

Recording on a MiniDisc
1. Use a connection cable to connect the unit to the AUX IN or DIGITAL IN socket.
2. Press the ON/STAND-BY button to turn the power on.
3. Press the AUX button to select “AUX” or “AUX OPT”.
4. Load a recordable MiniDisc into the MD compartment.
5. Press the REC MODE button and select “S.SYNC REC” or “MANUAL REC” using
the jog dial. Then, press the ENTER button.
S.SYNC REC: Recording starts automatically with sound input.
MANUAL REC: After pressing the 06 button, recording will start.
6. Press the MD REC button.
7. Press the 06 button to start recording.
● When “S.SYNC REC” is selected, pressing the 06 button is unnecessary.
Then, play the connected equipment.
About track numbers:
● If you have selected “S.SYNC REC”, the auto mark function will be activated auto-
matically.
● If you have selected “MANUAL REC”, you can select the auto mark function by
pressing the AUTO MARKER button.
To mark track numbers whilst recording from the connected equipment:
Press the MD REC button during recording. The track number will be marked and the
displayed number will be increased by one.
■ Headphones
● Before plugging in or unplugging the headphones, reduce the volume.
● Be sure your headphones have a 3.5 mm (1/8") diameter plug and are between 16
ohms and 50 ohms impedance. The recommended impedance is 32 ohms.
● Plugging in the headphones disconnects the speakers automatically. Adjust the
volume using the VOLUME buttons.
