12.1 Firmware update
A PN/CAN LINK with firmware version V2.0 can only run when the configuration in the project
is also made for firmware version V2.0. If there is a discrepancy between the firmware
version of the device and the firmware version set in the project during the configuration, the
PN/CAN LINK does not work. In this case, you must disconnect it from the S7 CPU with the
project that contains different firmware and proceed as follows:
1. Connect the PN/CAN LINK directly to a computer with the TIA Portal.
2. From the "Online" menu, select the "Accessible devices" menu item.
3. Select the PN/CAN LINK from the list of accessible devices.
4. Perform the firmware update and reconnect the PN/CAN LINK to the S7 CPU.
Note that the configuration is transferred automatically from the S7 CPU to the device when
a connection is established. This means you must not connect a PN/CAN LINK with a
configuration for firmware version V1.0 to the S7 CPU, in which the project with firmware
version V2.0. is loaded.
