Principle of operation
The PU 631
is
equipped with a program
memory (PU-memory) with a capacity of
4K
statements. The built-in backup battery
retains the program for a period of 30
minutes after the
PU has been switched'
off. In the on-line mode of operation a
PC S5-130
may work either with
its
own
EPROM-memory or with the PU-memory.
The PC
~5-110~/ 010 can only work with
the PU-memory in the on-line
mode.
To prevent malfunctions of the controller
during on-line operation (PC with PU-memory)
only complete networks (or basic software
modules in the case of
STL) may be trans-
ferred to the PU-memory during program in-
putting or alteration. This
is
achieved
in the PU 631 with an intermediate buffer
storage.
A
network element or statement which was
inputted, appears initially in the input
field of the screen. After depressing keys
or
,
the statement
is
trans-
ferred to the intermediate buffer.
After a completed input or alteration of a
network, the contents of the
intermediate.
buffer must be transferred to the PU-memory
by pressing key
.
Note:
During off-line operation the transfer from
the intermediate buffer to the PU-memory
is
done automatically as soon as the inter-
mediate buffer
is
full. Hence key
m
needs
only to be depressed at the end of program
inputting.
