Recommendation: The number of devices in the PROFINET ring affects the availability of the
S7-1500R system. The number of PROFINET devices including R-CPUs in the PROFINET ring should
not exceed 16. If you operate significantly more devices in the PROFINET ring, the availability is
reduced.
5.7 Using HMI devices
Introduction
You can use the same HMI devices for the S7‑1500R/H redundant system as for the S7‑1500
automation system.
If you use HMI devices in the PROFINET ring with S7-1500R, those HMI devices must support
media redundancy. The H-Sync forwarding function is also recommended.
