Advantages/benefits
•
Less wiring effort required for a line topology compared to ring topologies. Only one
PROFINET line is connected to each of the PROFINET interfaces X1 of the H-CPUs.
•
A configuration of the MRP rollers is not required.
•
The reconfiguration times of the R1 devices are significantly reduced and shorter
monitoring times are therefore possible.
•
Connect the R1 devices in opposite directions as shown in the figure below. The opposing
cabling ensures that in the event of failure or replacement of an R1 device, all other
devices remain available. This increases the availability of the redundant system:
–
In the RUN-Redundant system state, replacement of a particular R1 device is possible
without failure of the other R1 devices. For more information, refer to the section
Replacing components of the S7-1500R/H redundant system (Page 319).
–
In case of a line interruption of the two PROFINET lines between two neighboring R1
devices, the redundant system continues to exchange process data with all R1 devices.
For more information, refer to the section Failure of both PROFINET lines between two
R1 devices in a line topology (Page 120).
