2.9 Cyclic data exchange
A central controller that cyclically exchanges data with slave devices on a PROFIBUS network
is called a Master class 1 device. A GSD file is normally used when setting up the master to
exchange data with the slave device. The order of the data in the cyclic message is the same
as the order in the GSD file.
Each device supports three different GSD files. The manufacturer specific and the
manufacturer independent Profile 3 GSD-files are described in the following.
