CENTERING LONGITUDINAL FEED
Check:
The longitudinal feed, when correctly adjusted,
will insure !hot when the width (bight) ol lock is
chang ed , the feec:f plo1c moves the same distan ce
forward from the throat plate needle hole as it moves
backward preventing the needle from str ., \cing the
clam ping foo t.
Ad j ust m ent:
Through access hole in right side of upright arm,
loosen the longitudinal rock shaft driving arm pinch
screw, F ig. 306, and move clamping foot forward or
backward in co rro cr rela ti on to the n eedle. Then re-
ti ghten the p inch sc rew.

pulley slowly while chec king to see t hat the needle
does no t strike t he cla mp i ng foot during it s longit u-
dinal movement.
TO ADJUST WIDTH OF TACK
Adiustmcnt:
Loosen the longi tud i na l dr i ving arm s tud nut,
Fig. 30B, and s lido stu d to the right (fa ci ng rear of
machine) to increase the width of ta ck. To decre a se
the width, sl i de stud to the left. The n ti gh ten the
stud nut.
NOTE: After this adjustment is modo, it moy be
necessary to adjust the reed plate in relation to
the needle os instructed under CENTERING
LONGITUDINAL FEED.
