THREAD STRIPPING AND RETRACTING ADJUSTMENTS

CHECK:

SETTING:
L oose n t he two set sc r ews show n in Fig . 43 an d
pos it i on the fing er pla te so that th e fo ll ower CON-
TACTS BUT DOES HOT DEFLECT the st rip per
fi nger. Then s ecurely t ig ht en two se t screws.

STRIPPER FINGER
CHECK:
Th e st ripper finger shou ld strip unuse d thr ead
fr om ree l and is con t rolled by 1he knife ro ll er (see
Figs . 43 and 44).
T he s tripp -er fi nger should start its r eturn imm e-
diately after i• picks up ree l t hre ad and the co m plete
re t raction of stripper finger should be o~complish ed
with in 1/ 8 revolution of hook.
SETTING:
Loosen lo ck nut on knife roller as shown in Fig.
44. Adjust position of stud ~o tho t stripper fi nger
sta r ts its retu rn as soon as t hread is picked up. Then
tighten lock nu t secure ly.
NOTE: Check movement to 11oke sure that strip per
finger does not interfere with needle thread on pr e.
vious stitch. Stripper finger should extend far enough
to pic< up reel thread but not so for as to p ic k up
needle thread .
RETRACTING FINGER
CHECK:
T he re trac ting fi nger shown in Fi g. 45 should be
in l ine with edge of guide plate (on und erside of
throat plate) an d should pick up reel thread os stri ppe r
finger carries it by.
SETTING:
Loosen r etracting finger set sc r ew shown in Fig.
45 a nd m ove the retrac ting fi ng er as requi re d to pick
up reel threa d. Secu rely ti ghten se t screw .
TENS IO N RELEASE
CHECK:
T he need le th read tension r elease {a d juste d ear·
li er ) m ay hove altered du ring subseque nt adjustments
in it s re l atio n to ot h er move me n t$ o f machine. Check
tension rel ease to m ake sure tha t proper odjus tme nt
h as been retoi ned.
