starts flashing when
the vehicle is station-
ary and the engine is
running.
Vehicles with manual transmission only: the
vehicle is at a stand-
still. No stop preventers are active. The clutch pedal is fully
depressed.
The engine is not switched off automatically. The flashing indi-
cator lamp is intended to remind you to activate the automatic
start/stop system in order to save fuel.

Shift to neutral and slowly release the clutch pedal (Y page
98).
The engine is switched off automatically.

switch-off. A warning
tone also sounds.
The vehicle is in automatic engine stop. The driver's door has
been opened or the seat belt removed while the ignition is
switched on.
The engine will not start automatically.

Vehicles with manual transmission: depress the clutch pedal
completely.
Vehicles with automatic transmission: release the brake.
The engine starts automatically.

engine when pulling away or when stopping.
