The airbag-off switch for manually activat-
ing and disabling the front-passenger front
airbag is in the dashboard on the front-
passenger side.

Push in airbag-off switch : beyond the
point of resistance.

To disable the front-passenger front air-
bag: turn
airbag-off switch : anti-clock-
wise.
The PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF 4 indicator
lamp on the overhead control panel lights
up and stays on when the ignition is
switched on (Y page 34).

To activate the front-passenger front air-
bag: turn airbag-off switch : clockwise.

up and stays on when the ignition is

The passenger airbag is enabled when the
ignition is
switched on unless the passenger
airbag has been manually disabled. If the
passenger airbag is deactivated and the
ignition is switched on, the PASSENGER AIR
BAG OFF 4 indicator lamp in the overhead
control panel (Y page 34) lights up perma-
nently.
Child restraint system on the front-
passenger seat
General notes
If you secure a child in a child restraint sys-
tem on the front-passenger seat, always
observe the information on "Disabling the
front-passenger front airbag" (Y page 43).
You can thus avoid the risks that could arise
as a result of:

the enabling or disabling of the front-
passenger front airbag by mistake
R
the unsuitable positioning of the child
restraint system, e.g. too close to the dash-
board
Please observe the warning notice on the
front-passenger sun visor, see the illustra-
tion.

WARNING
If you secure a child in a child restraint
system on the front-passenger seat and the
PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp is
off, the front-passenger front airbag can
deploy in the event of an accident. The
child could be struck by the airbag. This
poses an increased risk of injury or even
fatal injury.
Make sure that the front-passenger front
airbag has been disabled. The PASSENGER
AIRBAG OFF indicator lamp must be lit.
NEVER use a rearward facing child restraint
on a seat protected by an ACTIVE AIRBAG in
front of it, DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY to the
CHILD can occur.
