This section shows you how to play back a video cassette.

Insert a video cassette as shown below.
Gently press the center of the front side of the
cassette until the mechanism draws it into the
compartment.
When the cassette has been loaded, the cassette
indicator _ lights up in the display window and the
VCR turns on automatically.
Protecting your cassettes against accidental erasure
Cassettes have a safety tab to protect against accidental
recording. Break oft the safety tab with a screwdriver or
other tool. If the safety tab is removed, the cassette will be
ejected when you try to record on it.
To record ona cassettewiththe safetytab broken off,
simplycoverthe tabholewithadhesivetape.
NOTE:
ifyouinserta cassettewithouta safety tab,playback
startsautomatically(autoplaybackfunction).
Ejecting the cassette
PressA EJECTontheVCR. You can ejectthe cassette
whenthepoweris off.
WhenyoupressA EJECT,the poweristurnedon. After
ejectingthecassette,the powerautomaticallyshutsoff.
Maximumrecording time of a cassette
Recording ineitherthe SPor EP modeis possiblewiththis
VCR. Whenrecording,selectthe desiredrecordingmode
(SPor EP) usingTAPESPEED onthe RemoteCommander.
Duringplayback,theVCR automaticallydetectsthe
recordingformat, andthen playsbackthe cassetteinthe
appropriatemode.A cassetterecordedintheEP moderuns
threetimesas slowlyas a cassetterecordedinthe SP mode.

Cassettes recorded in LP mode
Playback of cassettes recorded in LP mode is also possible
with this VCR. However, playback in modes other than
normal forward speed is not guaranteed. This VCR is not
designed to record in the LP mode.
