Troubleshooting
.Ifyou have a problem with-your VCR, first check the power cord connection, then go through the following list. Should the
difficulty persist, unplug the unit, and contact your Sony dealer or local authorized Sony Service Center facility.

The POWER switch doesn't work.
Possible causes and remedies
The power cord is disconnected:
The VCR is in the timer standby mode.
Press TIMER REC ON/OFF, then turn on the VCR.
The power is turned on but the
VCR-doesn't work.
Time and Date Clock The clock has stopped and "- : - -" There has been a power interruption. Reset the time,
lights up. date and timer settings.
TV Reception. TV receptio_is poor.
Recording and
Playback

No picture on the TV screen.
The VCR won't record.
The playback picture is not clear.

The channel for the VCR is not correctly tuned on the

The IV signal is weak. Adjust the.direction of the
antenna.

VCR.

antenna.
Press TV/VTR so that the V-rR indication appears in
the display window.
The IV channel is not set to Ch 3 or Ch 4, or the video
input has not been selected on the TV or monitor.
No cassette has been inserted.
The cassette is at its end.
INPUT SELECT is not set correctly.
The safety, tab on the cassette i.sbroken off.
•Ttle channel for the VCR is not correctly tuned on the
TV.
A cassette recorded on another VCR is being played
back. Adjust the tracking with TRACKING
NORMAL/SLOW and STILL ADJUST on the Remote
Commander.
The video heads are dirty.Clean the heads using the
Sony T-25CL video head cleaning cassette. For details
on cleaning, refer to the instructions furnished with the
cleaning cassette. If a cleaning cassette is not
available in your area, have the heads cleaned at your
nearest Sony Service Center facility. With this service,
there would be a standard charge. (Do not use a
commercially-available wet-type cleaning cassette. It
may cause damage to the video heads.)
The video heads are worn out.
