Troubleshooting
If you experience any of the following dif ficulties while
using the r eceiver , use this tr oubleshooting guide to help
you r emedy the pr oblem. Also, see “Checking the
connections” on page 19 to verify that the connections ar e
cor rect. Should any pr oblem persist, consult your near est
Sony dealer .
There’s no sound or only a very low-level sound
is heard.
, Check that the speakers and components ar e
connected secur ely .
, Make sur e that you ’ve selected the cor rect
component on the r eceiver .
, Press MUTING if MUTING appears on the display .
, The pr otective device on the r eceiver has been
activated because of a shor t cir cuit. T urn of f the
receiver , eliminate the shor t-cir cuit pr oblem and
turn on the power again.
The left and right sounds are unbalanced or
reversed.
, Check that the speakers and components ar e
connected cor rectly and secur ely .
, Adjust fr ont balance parameter in the LEVEL
menu.
Severe hum or noise is heard.
, Check that the speakers and components ar e
connected secur ely .
, Check that the connecting cor ds ar e away fr om a
transfor mer or motor , and at least 10 feet (3 meters)
away fr om a TV set or fluor escent light.
, Move your TV away fr om the audio components.
, The plugs and jacks ar e dir ty . W ipe them with a
cloth slightly moistened with alcohol.
No sound is heard from the center speaker.
, Make sur e the sound field function is on (pr ess
SOUND FIELD MODE).
, Select the appr opriate center mode (see pages
25–27).
, Adjust the speaker volume (see page 18).
, Make sur e the center speaker size parameter is set
to either SMALL or LARGE (see page 16).
