Note #1—Unnecessary to Disconnect Laser Sensor When Using Infrared Sensor:
Even though the above picture shows that the laser sensor has been disconnected from the
sensor assembly, you can have it attached while using the infrared sensor. Just be sure that
the switch on the box is in the Infrared direction.
Note #2—OPTOCOM Port with a Separate LED for Infrared Pulses:
Some meters that have OPTOCOM ports also have a separate LED that is used to
send out infrared pulses. You will know this because the OPTOCOM port will not
produce any pulses that the Bird Dog Plus can detect. In this case, you will need to
find the LED and position the black infrared sensor block over the LED to pick up
the pulses. Also, in a sunlit environment you will need to shield the meter from the
sunlight so the sensor will not receive interference from the sun. A separate black
cloth would be helpful in this instance—not provided by Spinlab.
