Socket, T27 – 0812 542 2104
Installing sleeve (5) – 1115 893 4600
Press arbor – 1117 893 7200
Press arbor – 4119 893 7200
Torque wrench – 5910 890 0302
Screwdriver, T27x200 – 5910 890 2415
Hot air blower
Pin punch, 5 mm (1/4 in)
STIHL multipurpose grease – 0781 120 1110
STIHL gear grease – 0781 120 1118

13.2 Disassembling the Gearbox
N Preparations, @ 3.1.
N Remove handlebar together with control handle, @
5.2.
N Remove the powerhead, @ 7.2.
N Remove clutch housing together with gearbox, @
9.2.
N Remove clutch housing from the gearbox, @ 9.4.
N Take out the screw (3).
N Insert 5 mm / 1/4in diameter pin punch (11) through
bore (arrow) and tap to release the gearbox housing
(1)
N Pry the gearbox housing (1) off the gearbox cover (3).
N Pull the output shaft (9) with gear (10) out of the ball
bearing.
N Push the output shaft (9) out of the gear (10).
N Heat the gearbox cover (4) in bearing seat area to
about 120°C (250°F).
N Knock the gearbox cover (4) against a wooden base
until the ball bearings (7 and 8) fall out.
N Use 5 mm / 1/4in diameter pin punch to remove the
oil seal (6).
N Heat the gearbox housing (1) in bearing seat area to
about 120°C (250°F).
N Use press arbor 4119 893 7200 to remove ball
bearing (2) from the gearbox housing (1).
