13.3 Assembling the Gearbox
N Heat the bearing seat area (8) in the gearbox cover 
(4) to about 120°C (250°F).
N Use installing sleeve 1115 893 4600 to fit the ball 
bearing (8).
N Lubricate lip of oil seal (6) with multipurpose grease.
N Position oil seal (6) so that the groove faces the ball 
bearing (7).
N Use press arbor 1117 893 7200 to install the oil 
seal (6).
N Use press arbor 1117 893 7200 to install the ball 
bearing (7).
N Heat the gearbox housing (1) in bearing seat area to 
about 120°C (250°F).
N Use press arbor 1117 893 7200 to install the ball 
bearing (2).
N Apply uniform coat of about 85 g (3 oz) gear grease 
to the gearbox housing so that the sealing face 
(arrows) remains free from grease.
N Apply Dirko sealant to the gearbox housing (1) 
sealing face (arrows) and check the following points:
– Sealant forms a bead a = 1 mm (0.04 in) high.
– Sealant does not project into the gearbox housing (1).
N Line up the gearbox cover (4) so that the output shaft 
(9) engages the ball bearing (7).
N Push the gearbox cover (4) onto the output shaft (9), 
making sure the sealing lip of the oil seal (5) is not 
damaged.
N Insert and tighten down the screw (3).
N Fit clutch housing on the gearbox, @ 9.5.
N Install clutch housing together with gearbox, @ 9.3.
N Install the powerhead, @ 7.2.
N Install handlebar together with control handle, @ 5.7.
