Atverylowoutsidetemperatures,
thelubricatingoilontherewind
springmaythickenandcausethe
springwindingstosticktogether.
Thishasadetrimentaleffecton
thefunctionofthestartermecha-
nism.Itissufficientinsuchcases
toapplyafewdropsofparaffinto
therewindspring.
Carefullypulloutthestarterrope
severaltimesandallowittore-
winduntilitsnormalsmooth
actionisrestored.
Theentirestartermechanismin-
cludingrewindspringmustbere-
movedanddisassembledifclog-
gedwithdirtorpitch.Specialcare
mustbeexercisedwhenremoving
thespring!
Allpartsmustbewashedinparaf-
finorwhitespirit.
Therewindspringandstarterpost
mustbelubricatedwithSTIHL
speciallubricant,see13.2,before
beinginstalled.

Replaceinsertinstartercoverif
necessary.
•
Positionstartercoversothatlug
(1)engagesininsert(2).
•
Secureeyeletonthrottlecableto
lowerscrewonmachineswith
oneshort-circuitwire.
-Tightenscrewstoatorqueof
5.5Nm.
-Refitshroud.
