10 Installing the Robotic Mower
To install the perimeter wire around an external docking
station:
► Secure the perimeter wire (1) with a wire stake (2) on the
left front side (A) or on the right front side (B) of the
docking station, next to a wire channel in the base plate.
► Leave a section of wire (1) with a length of approximately
a = 6.56 ft. (2 m). This segment will later be connected to
the docking station.
► Install the perimeter wire (1) in front of and behind the
docking station (3) with a clearance of
a ≥ 19.7 in. (50 cm) and at right angles (90°) to the base
plate.
► Install a corridor, @ 11.8 or install the perimeter wire
around the mowing area.
► Leave a minimum clearance of b = 15.7 in. (40 cm) to the
side of the base plate.
To install the perimeter wire around the mowing area:
► Install the perimeter wire (1) around the mowing area and
around any obstacles, @ 11.6.
► Secure it to the ground using wire stakes (2).
One wire stake per 3.3 ft. (1 m) is sufficient as a rough
guide. Stakes may need to be closer together if the ground
is uneven. The perimeter wire must always lie flat on the
lawn, low enough that it will not be cut by the robotic
mower's blade. Gradually over time, the mowing and
mulching process will help conceal the perimeter wire
below the surface of the grass. Alternatively, the perimeter
wire can be buried up to a depth of 3.9 in. (10 cm).
► Check perimeter wire clearances using the iMow Ruler,
@ 11.3.
► Maintain the wire clearance at the corners around high
obstacles such as wall corners or high flowerbeds (5) to
prevent the robotic mower from scraping against the
obstacle.
