Choosing a Location
Because of the sensitivity of TGA experiments,
it is important to choose a location for the
instrument using the following guidelines. The
TGA should be:
In ... a temperature controlled
area.
... a clean, vibration-free
environment.
... an area with ample working
and ventilation space.
(Refer to the specifications in
Chapter 1 for the instrument dimen-
sions).
On ... a stable work surface.
Near ... a power outlet (115 volts AC, 50 or
60 Hz, 15 amps). A step up/down
line transformer may be required if
the unit is operated at a higher or
lower line voltage.
... your TA Instruments thermal
analysis controller.
... compressed lab air and purge gas
supplies with suitable regulators and
flow meters.
Away from ... dusty environments.
... exposure to direct sunlight.
... direct air drafts (fans, room air
ducts).
... poorly ventilated areas.
... noisy or mechanical vibrations.
