This submenu allows you to read messages from the operator.
NOTE: Messages from the operator will be displayed at the upper left corner of
the TV screen, showing the icon. Press on the remote control or
open the submenu to read the message.
Use the pq buttons to select the message and press OK to open and read it. Press RED to delete all
messages from the list. Press GREEN to move up one page in the list. Press YELLOW to move down
one page in the list. Press BLUE to delete the selected message. Press 9 button to return to previous
step. Press to exit the menu and go back to viewing mode.
8.0 TROUBLESHOOTING
There may be various reasons for faulty operation of the receiver. Please check the receiver according
to the procedures shown below. If the receiver does not work properly after checking it, please
contact your local service line or THOMSON dealer. Alternatively you can send a support e-mail via
our website: www.thomsonstb.net.
NEVER open or disassemble your receiver. This may cause a dangerous situation and will void the
warranty.
Symptom Cause Remedy
The standby indicator does not
light up
The mains lead is unplugged/the
multipoint connector is switched
off.
Check the mains lead/
switch the multipoint
connector on.
There is no image, no sound, no
display
There is no power supply Check the connection
cables
There is a short circuit in coaxial
cable
Disconnect device from
mains power supply,
eliminate the short circuit in
the coaxial cable or
connections, reconnect, and
activate device
Cables are missing or defective. Check your connecting
cables
A wrong video format was
selected in the OSD settings
Check the settings to make
sure your TV supports the
selected format
There are small blocks in the
video, occasionally no sound,
occasionally no signal
The signal is too weak Check for defective cables
or connectors. Alternatively,
reduce the coaxial cable
length
Scrambled channel
message
The channel is scrambled. Select an alternative
channel.
No response to remote control The receiver is off. Plug in and turn on the
plug.
The handset is not aimed
correctly.
Aim the handset at the IR
sensor.
The IR sensor is obstructed. Check for obstructions.
The handset batteries are
exhausted.
Replace the handset
batteries.
Password forgotten The default password is 0000 Contact the local Service
