2.13 Transponder Automatic Sequence of Tests
When conducting tests in the AUTO sequence, the operator initializes the sequence by toggling
the AUTO/TEST/MANUAL switch to the AUTO position. The Test Set then commences a series
of tests without interruption (see figure 2-8) ending in the POWER, RECEIVER EFFICIENCY and
FREQUENCY page. Test results will not be displayed unless a failure occurs. The operator can
then override the failure and continue testing by toggling the TEST switch to the AUTO position.
NOTE
Before testing begins, ensure that you have read and fully understand the procedures preceding
this section. By reviewing these sections, the operator can avoid erroneous and inaccurate
results.
2.13.1 ATCRBS, Mode A/C Automatic Testing
1. Turn the Test Set “ON” by toggling the ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
Ensure the green LED illuminates.
2. The Test Set commences the Self Test. “PASS” is displayed briefly if no failures
are detected.
3. Utilize the procedures as outlined in 2.9 to select the preferred antenna method
for the following tests.
4. Turn the UUT FUNCTION switch to the XPDR position. The Test Set will
automatically determine the transponder capability as being Mode A/C capable
and display the appropriate start page.
5. Toggle the AUTO/TEST/MANUAL switch to the AUTO position. The Test Set will
begin testing the transponder, without interruption, IAW figure 2-4. Each test will
be displayed as “Testing . . .” but no results will be shown, until the Test Set as
completed all tests.
