2.15.4 Testing a TCAS Equipped Aircraft
1. Connect the Directional Antenna to the Test Set IAW Paragraph 2.9.1. The
Directional Antenna is the only antenna that may be utilized for TCAS testing.
2. Turn the Test SetON” by toggling the ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
Ensure the GREEN LED is illuminated.
3. Place the UUT FUNCTION switch in the TCAS position. The test set will first
measure the TCAS transmitter power and frequency and the display will indicate

5. Press the AUTO/TEST/MANUAL switch to continue. The test set will next
display the AUT Mode S address, transmitted via the TCAS system in a UF16
interrogation. The display will indicate the following
6. Press the AUTO/TEST/MANUAL switch to access the TCAS scenario selection
screen and select the appropriate intruder scenario by using the UP/FWD-
DOWN/REV switch. Paragraph 2.15.2 describes in detail correct procedures for
initially programming and storing the TCAS scenarios.
NOTE
7. Simulate the UUT aircraft altitude to 10,000 ft by “Pumping Up” the aircraft with a
Pitot Static test set
8. Select the Intruder velocity by toggling the INCREASE-DECREASE VELOCITY
switch to the desired speed.
