Flushing by test tank

When starting the outboard motor in the
test tank, make sure that:
1. Water level is at least 10 cm (4 in.) above
the anti-ventilation plate to avoid over-
heating of the engine.
2. Run at idling only
3. Remove the propeller (See page 73)

Gear case flushing device

Never start or operate the engine indoors or
in any space which is not well ventilated.
Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide, a
colorless and odorless gas which can be fatal
if inhaled for any length of time.

Never leave the outboard motor unattended
while running on the flushing devise. When
the flushing devise slip off from the gear
case, the engine will overheat and may cause
serious damage.
1. Fully tilt down the outboard motor.
2. With the propeller removed, seal the
sub-water inlet with a tape to prevent
air from being sucked into the water
pump.

3. Install the gear case flushing device on
gear case so that the rubber cups
cover the cooling water inlets tightly.
4. Connect a water hose to the flushing
devise and turn on the water and
adjust the flow so that excess water
continues leaking out from around
the rubber cups to ensure the engine
is receiving an adequate supply of
cooling water.
