Adjusttheservicebrakeswhenthereismorethan25mm
(1inch)offreetravelofthebrakepedal,orwhenthebrakes
donotworkeffectively.Freetravelisthedistancethebrake
pedalmovesbeforebrakingresistanceisfelt.
1.Releasethelockinglatchfromthebrakepedalssothat
bothpedalsworkindependentlyofeachother.
2.Toreducefreetravelofthebrakepedals,tightenthe
brakes:
A.Loosenthefrontnutonthethreadedendofthe
brakecable(Figure52).

B.Tightentherearnuttomovethecablebackward
untilthebrakepedalshave13to25mm(1/2to
1inch)offreetravel.
C.Tightenthefrontnutsafterthebrakesareadjusted
correctly.

ServiceInterval:Every100hours
Checktheconditionandtensionofthebelts(Figure53)after
every100operatinghours.
1.Propertensionwillallow10mm(3/8inch)deection
whenaforceof4.5kg(10lb)isappliedonthebelt
midwaybetweenthepulleys.
2.Ifthedeectionisnot10mm(3/8inch),loosenthe
alternatormountingbolts(Figure53).
Note:Increaseordecreasethealternatorbelttension
andtightenthebolts.Checkthedeectionofthebelt
againtoensurethatthetensioniscorrect.
