Hydraulicuidescapingunderpressurecan
penetrateskinandcauseinjury.
•Makesureallhydraulicuidhosesandlinesare
ingoodconditionandallhydraulicconnections
andttingsaretightbeforeapplyingpressureto
thehydraulicsystem.
•Keepyourbodyandhandsawayfrompin
holeleaksornozzlesthatejecthighpressure
hydraulicuid.
•Usecardboardorpapertondhydraulicleaks.
•Safelyrelieveallpressureinthehydraulicsystem
beforeperforminganyworkonthehydraulic
system.
•Seekimmediatemedicalattentionifuidis
injectedintoskin.
ChangingtheCounterbalance
Settings
Duringdifferenttimesofthemowingseasonorwhenturf
conditionsvary,theamountofcounterbalance(upwardlift)
requiredonthecuttingdeckscanbechangedtomeetthe
conditions.
1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthe
cuttingdecks,stoptheengine,engagetheparking
brake,andremovethekeyfromtheignitionswitch.
2.Removetheaccesspanelbelowthefrontoftheseat.
3.Locatethe2cappedcounterbalancejumperwires
insidethecompartment(Figure56)

4.WiththekeyintheOffposition,removethecapfrom
jumperwiresandplugthewirestogether(Figure57).

5.TurnthekeytotheRunpositionbutdonotstartthe
machine.
6.Thecurrentcounterbalancesettingwillashonthe
diagnosticlight.Thesystemallowsfor3settings.
7.Thecounterbalancesettingischangedbyusing
thecenterraise-lowerswitch.Tochangethe
counterbalancesettingproceedasfollows:
•Movingtheswitchforwardtothelowerposition
andreleasingitwilllowerthecounterbalance
setting,thusincreasingtheeffectiveweightofeach
cuttingdeckintheturf.
•Movingtheswitchrearwardtotheraiseposition
andreleasingitwillincreasethecounterbalance
setting,thusdecreasingtheeffectiveweightofeach
cuttingdeckintheturf.
•Aftertheswitchisreleased,thediagnosticlightwill
ashthenewcounterbalancesetting(1,2,or3).
8.Whenthedesiredsettingisattained,rotatethekeyto
theOffposition.
9.Unplugthejumperwires,installthecaponthewires
andputthewiresbackintothecompartment.
10.Installtheaccesscover.
