StartingtheEngine

•Theenginehasshutoffduetolackoffuel.

1.Removeyourfootfromthetractionpedaland
ensurethatitisinNEUTRAL.Ensurethatthe
parkingbrakeisengaged.
2.Pressdownandholdtheengine-speedswitch
tosettheenginetolow-idlespeed.
3.TurnthekeytotheRUNposition.Theglow
indicatorshouldilluminate.
4.Whentheglowindicatordims,turnthekeyto
theSTARTposition.
Important:Donotrunthestartermotor
morethan15secondsatatimeorpremature
starterfailuremayresult.Iftheenginefails
tostartafter15seconds,turnthekeyto
theOFFposition,checkthecontrolsand
procedures,wait15additionalseconds,and
repeatthestartingprocedure.
5.Releasethekeyimmediatelywhentheengine
startsandallowittoreturntotheRUNposition.
6.Presstheengine-speedswitchtosetthedesired
enginespeed.
Whenthetemperatureislessthan-7°C(20°F),
thestartermotorcanberunfor30secondson
then60secondsofffor2attempts.
Important:Shutofftheengineandallowthe
enginetocoolbeforeyoucheckforoilleaks,
looseparts,orothermalfunctions.

beforeshuttingitoffafterafull-loadoperation.
Thisallowstheturbochargertocooldownbefore
shuttingofftheengine.Failuretodosomaylead
toturbochargertrouble.
Note:Lowerthecuttingunitstothegroundwhenever
machineisparked.Thisrelievesthehydraulicload
fromthesystem,preventswearonsystempartsand
alsopreventsaccidentalloweringofthecuttingunits.
1.Pressdownandholdtheengine-speedswitch

4.RotatetheignitionkeytotheOFFposition.

tolistentotheenginespeedinheavyloadconditions.
SmartPowerpreventstheenginefrombogging
downinheavycuttingconditionsbyautomatically
controllingthemachinespeedandoptimizingcutting
performance.
Youcanusethebrakestoassistinturningthe
machine.However,usethemcarefully,especially
onsoftorwetgrass,becausetheturfmaybetorn
accidentally.Anotherbenetofthebrakesisto
maintaintraction.Forexample,insomeslope
conditions,theuphillwheelslipsandlosestraction.
Ifthissituationoccurs,presstheuphillbrakepedal
graduallyandintermittentlyuntiltheuphillwheelstops
slipping,Thisactionincreasesthetractiononthe
downhillwheel.
Important:Allowtheenginetoidlefor2minutes
beforeshuttingitoffafterafull-loadoperation.
Thisallowstheturbochargertocooldownbefore
shuttingtheengineoff.Failuretodosomaylead
toturbo-chargertrouble.
Beforeshuttingofftheengine,disengageallcontrols
andsettheenginespeedtoslow.Settingtheengine
speedtoslowreduceshighenginerpm,noise,and
vibration.TurnthekeytotheOFFpositiontoshutoff
theengine.
Operatingthe
Engine-CoolingFan
Theenginecoolingfanisnormallycontrolledbythe
machine.Themachinehastheabilitytoreverse
thefantoblowdebrisofftherearscreen.Under
normaloperatingconditions,themachinecontrols
thefanspeedanddirectionbasedoncoolantand
