•Checktheaircleanerbodyfordamagewhich
couldcauseanairleak.Replaceifdamaged.
Checkthewholeintakesystemforleaks,damage
orloosehoseclamps.
•Servicetheaircleanerlterbefore200hoursif
theengineperformancesuffersduetoextremely
dusty,dirtyconditions.Changingtheairlter
beforeitisnecessaryonlyincreasesthechanceof
dirtenteringtheenginewhenthelterisremoved.
•Besurethecoverisseatedcorrectlyandseals
withtheaircleanerbody.
1.Releasethelatchessecuringtheaircleaner
covertotheaircleanerbody(Figure41).

2.Removethecoverfromtheaircleanerbody.
Beforeremovingthelter,uselowpressureair
(40psi,cleananddry)tohelpremovelarge
accumulationsofdebrispackedbetweenoutside
ofprimarylterandthecanister.Avoidusing
highpressureairwhichcouldforcedirtthrough
thelterintotheintaketract.Thiscleaning
processpreventsdebrisfrommigratingintothe
intakewhentheprimarylterisremoved.
3.Removeandreplacetheprimarylter.Cleaning
oftheusedelementisnotrecommendeddue
tothepossibilityofdamagetotheltermedia.
Inspectthenewlterforshippingdamage,
checkingthesealingendofthelterandthe
body.Donotuseadamagedelement.Insertthe
newlterbyapplyingpressuretotheouterrim
oftheelementtoseatitinthecanister.Donot
applypressuretotheexiblecenterofthelter.
4.Cleanthedirtejectionportlocatedinthe
removablecover.Removetherubberoutlet
valvefromthecover,cleanthecavityand
replacetheoutletvalve.
5.Installthecoverorientingtherubberoutletvalve
inadownwardposition—betweenapproximately
5:00to7:00whenviewedfromtheend.
6.Securethelatches(Figure41).

ServiceInterval:Aftertherst50hours
Every150hours
1.Removethedrainplugandletoilowintoa
drainpan.Whentheoilstops,installthedrain
plug(Figure42).
