Improperuseormaintenancebytheoperatororowner
canresultininjury.Toreducethepotentialforinjury,
complywiththesesafetyinstructionsandalwayspay
attentiontothesafetyalertsymbol,whichmeans
Caution,Warning,orDanger—"personalsafety
instruction."Failuretocomplywiththeinstructionmay
resultinpersonalinjuryordeath.
SafeOperatingPractices
Training
•Readtheoperator'smanualandothertraining
materialcarefully.Befamiliarwiththecontrols,
safetysigns,andtheproperuseoftheequipment.
Iftheoperatorormechaniccannotreadthe
languageofthismanual,itistheowner's
responsibilitytoexplainthismaterialtothem.
•Becomefamiliarwiththesafeoperationofthe
equipment,operatorcontrols,andsafetysigns.
•Alloperatorsandmechanicsshouldbetrained.
Theownerisresponsiblefortrainingtheusers
•Neverletchildrenoruntrainedpeopleoperateor
servicetheequipment.Localregulationsmay
restricttheageoftheoperator.
•Theowner/usercanpreventandisresponsible
foraccidentsorinjuriesoccurringtopeopleor
damagetoproperty.
Preparation
•Evaluatetheterraintodeterminewhataccessories
andattachmentsareneededtoproperlyand
safelyperformthejob.Onlyuseaccessoriesand
attachmentsapprovedbythemanufacturer.
•Wearappropriateclothingincludinghardhat,
safetyglassesandearprotection.Longhair,loose
clothingorjewelrymaygettangledinmoving
parts.
•Inspecttheareawheretheequipmentistobe
usedandremoveallobjectssuchasrocks,toys,
andwirewhichcanbethrownbythemachine.
•Checkthatoperator'spresencecontrols,safety
switchesandshieldsareattachedandfunctioning
properly.Donotoperateunlesstheyare
functioningproperly.
SafeHandlingofFuels
•Toavoidpersonalinjuryorpropertydamage,use
extremecareinhandlinggasoline.Gasolineis
extremelyammableandthevaporsareexplosive.
•Extinguishallcigarettes,cigars,pipes,andother
sourcesofignition.
•Useonlyanapprovedfuelcontainer.
•Neverremovefuelcaporaddfuelwiththeengine
running.
•Allowenginetocoolbeforerefueling.
•Neverrefuelthemachineindoors.
•Neverstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwhere
thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlightsuchas
onawaterheateroronotherappliances.
•Neverllcontainersinsideavehicleoronatruck
ortrailerbedwithaplasticliner.Alwaysplace
containersonthegroundawayfromyourvehicle
beforelling.
•Removeequipmentfromthetruckortrailerand
refuelitontheground.Ifthisisnotpossible,then
refuelsuchequipmentwithaportablecontainer,
ratherthanfromafueldispensernozzle.
•Keepthenozzleincontactwiththerimofthefuel
tankorcontaineropeningatalltimesuntilfueling
iscomplete.Donotuseanozzlelockopendevice.
•Iffuelisspilledonclothing,changeclothing
immediately.
•Neveroverllfueltank.Replacefuelcapand
tightensecurely.
Operation
•Neverrunanengineinanenclosedarea.
•Onlyoperateingoodlight,keepingawayfrom
holesandhiddenhazards.
•Besurealldrivesareinneutralandparkingbrake
isengagedbeforestartingengine.Onlystart
enginefromtheoperator'sposition.Alwaysuse
theseatbeltwhentheROPSisintheraised
position.DonotusetheseatbeltwhentheROPS
isintheloweredposition.
•Slowdownanduseextracareonhillsides.Besure
totravelintherecommendeddirectiononhillsides.
Turfconditionscanaffectthemachine'sstability.
Usecautionwhileoperatingneardrop-offs.
•Slowdownandusecautionwhenmakingturns
andwhenchangingdirectionsonslopes.
•Neverraisedeckwiththebladesrunning.
•Neveroperatewithguardsnotsecurelyinplace.
Besureallinterlocksareattached,adjusted
properly,andfunctioningproperty.
•Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingor
overspeedtheengine.
•Stoponlevelground,lowerthecuttingunits,
disengagedrives,engageparkingbrake(if
provided),shutoffenginebeforeleavingthe
operator'spositionforanyreason.
