CorrectingaMower-Deck
Mismatch
Ifthereismismatchbetweentheblades,onasingle
mowerdeck,thegrasswillappearstreakedwhenitis
cut.Thisproblemcanbecorrectedbyensuringthat
thebladesarestraightandallofthebladesarecutting
onthesameplane.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceoftheshop
oor.
2.Raisetheheightofcuttothehighestposition;
refertoAdjustingtheHeightofCut(page29).
3.Lowerthemowerdeckontotheatsurfaceand
removethecoversfromthetopofthemower
deck.
4.Loosentheangenutsecuringtheidlerpulley
toreleasethebelttension.
5.Rotatethebladesuntiltheendsfaceforward
andrearwardandmeasurefromtheoortothe
fronttipofthecuttingedge.
Note:Rememberthisdimension.Thenrotate
thesamebladesothattheoppositeendis
forward,andmeasureagain.Thedifference
betweenthedimensionsmustnotexceed3
mm(1/8inch).Ifthedimensionexceeds3mm
(1/8inch),replacethebladebecauseitisbent.
Measurealltheblades.
6.Comparethemeasurementsoftheouterblades
withthecenterblade.
Note:Thecenterblademustnotbemorethan
10mm(3/8inch)lowerthantheouterblades.If
thecenterbladeismorethan10mm(3/8inch)
lowerthantheouterblades,proceedtostep7
andaddshimsbetweenthespindlehousingand
thebottomofthemowerdeck.
7.Removethebolts,atwashers,lockwashers,
andnutsfromtheouterspindleinthearea
wheretheshimsmustbeadded.
Note:T oraiseorlowertheblade,addashim
(PartNo.3256-24)betweenthespindlehousing
andthebottomofthemowerdeck.Continue
tocheckthealignmentofthebladesandadd
shimsuntilthetipsofthebladesarewithinthe
requireddimension.
Important:Donotusemorethan3shimsat
any1holelocation.Usedecreasingnumbers
ofshimsinadjacentholesifmorethan1
shimisaddedtoany1holelocation.
8.Adjusttheidlerpulleyandinstallthebeltcovers.
