2.Securethebatterytothebatterytraywiththebattery
clamp,carriagebolt,andlocknut(Figure40).
3.Connectthebatterycables;refertoConnectingthe
Battery(page36).
ConnectingtheBattery
1.Connectthepositive-batterycabletotheterminalof
thebattery(Figure40).
2.Connectthenegative-batterycabletotheterminalof
thebattery(Figure40).
3.Installthebatterycoverontothetopofthebattery
(Figure40).
ChargingtheBattery
WARNING
Chargingthebatteryproducesgassesthatcan
explode.
Neversmokenearthebatteryandkeepsparksand
amesawayfrombattery.
Important:Alwayskeepthebatteryfullycharged
(1.260specicgravity).Thisisespeciallyimportantto
preventbatterydamagewhenthetemperatureisbelow
0°C(32°F).
1.Removethebatteryfromthemachine;referto
RemovingtheBattery(page35).
2.Connecta3to4ampbatterychargertothebattery
posts.Chargethebatteryatarateof3to4ampfor4
to8hours(12volts).
Note:Donotoverchargethebattery.
3.Installthebatteryinthechassis;refertoInstallingthe
Battery(page36).
StoringtheBattery
Ifthemachinewillbestoredformorethan30days,remove
thebatteryandchargeitfully.Eitherstoreitontheshelforon
themachine.Leavethecablesdisconnectedifitisstoredon
themachine.Storethebatteryinacoolatmospheretoavoid
quickdeteriorationofthechargeinthebattery.Toprevent
thebatteryfromfreezing,makesureitisfullycharged.
ReplacingtheFuses
Thereare3fusesintheelectricalsystem.Theyarelocated
beneaththedashonthedriver'sside(Figure41).
